The Site Went POOF!

Wow, what a sickening experience.  This weekend I got an email from this site's host saying there was trouble, and that the server was getting wiped.  I've done this before, so I wasnt' all that worried. I got another email Monday that things were back up and running, and that I could restore the site from my backups and be good to go.

Meh?  I don't have backups, I thought the host was doing that. NOOOOOOOOOOO!

So yes, the site was gone, and by Monday night I'd looked on every computer I regularly lay my hands one, and didn't have a backup of the wordpress theme I'd created, images used in posts, the database, nothing.  NOTHING!

I'd actually resigned to just call it quits.  Three years I've been working on this, and that's quite a (sorry) kick in the balls (sorry again); I was depressed enough to just pack it in. Then I remembered that most of the pages should be cached by Google.  Sure enough, as many as I could remember were up there.

It's now Thursday night (10-13-2011) and I'm done copying and pasting content. I've got to recreate the theme (I've got a couple of similar ones, so it shouldn't be too difficult) and then all of the content I want to keep will be up again.  The only things I'm missing are the pictures that were in the posts.  If I luck out and google has cached them as well, yee haw!  I might have them on other computers as well (I wasn't looking for pictures when I was hunting) but we'll see what happens. Comments are gone, sorry.  I also don't have a record of subscribers, except for any confirmation emails I have.
